Diet Analysis

As a class assignment, I was required to keep track of and analyze my daily diet. I collected my data for 3 days and I was very surprised by the results I got! I learned a ton about what exactly my body needs and what types of food I can eat to maintain a healthy diet.

I chose my diet on 2/18/16 to analyze even closer. This day, I ate an apple, 1 glass of water, 2 pieces of wheat toast, 1 can of tomato soup, 1 handful of cheese, 2 pieces of sourdough bread, 2 cups of 1% milk, 7 strawberries, 1 cup of wheat thins, 1 banana, 3 pieces of salmon sashimi, and 8 pieces of a shrimp tempura roll. My calculations and percentages are included in the below infographic.

The results really took me by surprise as I thought that my diet had many more flaws in it than what showed up! As I was keeping track of my eating, I thought my meals were not completely well rounded and nutritious. My results showed, however, that my diet was very healthy and well rounded! The 2 areas I needed work on were fiber and saturated fat. I am planning on changing this by eating more whole grains, corn, and rice bran. I need to cut down on my saturated fats so I should probably cut down on the butter, cream and cheese in my daily diet. There are so many amazing and healthy food options in this area that I should take advantage of and shop at more often! I love going to Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Safeway and eating out at The Plant. All have extremely healthy options that are full of nutrition!

Overall, the project was very informational and interesting to learn about!
